Descrizione

Saveur de Poisson is a beloved and internationally recognized seafood restaurant tucked away on the Escalier Waller steps near Tangier’s Grand Socco, a few meters from the El Minzah Hôtel. The restaurant gained global fame following Anthony Bourdain’s visit on Parts Unknown, but its reputation among locals and savvy travelers long predates that exposure, built over more than three decades of consistent quality and authenticity. The concept is deliberately simple: there is no printed menu. Guests are served what the fishermen have caught that day — a multi-course fixed meal that typically includes freshly made bread with olives and harissa, a rich fish soup, a fragrant seafood tagine with spinach and calamari, grilled whole fish cooked over charcoal with herbs from the Rif Mountains, and fruit-based desserts with honey. A signature house-made aged juice blend rounds out the experience. The décor is unpretentious — handmade wooden utensils, clay plates, and simple furnishings — and no alcohol is served. Prices are highly accessible at approximately 250 MAD per person, making it an extraordinary value. The restaurant is cash only and closed on Fridays. While informal in style, Saveur de Poisson delivers a culinary experience of remarkable integrity and soul, earning its place as a must-visit in any serious exploration of Tangier’s food culture.
