La Cucina del Sole was founded in 2002 by Nicoletta Tavella, an Italian cook, culinary journalist, cookbook author, television chef, and certified AIS sommelier. Located in the Zuid neighbourhood of Amsterdam, the school is recognised as a leading reference for anyone who wants to learn to cook authentic Italian cuisine in the Netherlands. Nicoletta and her team of expert Italian cooks teach the secrets of real Italian regional cooking, from classic pasta, gnocchi, and risotto to Sicilian and Apulian specialities, frittatas, ciabatta, and traditional Italian desserts. The school offers two formats: open group cooking workshops that anyone can join individually, ideal for meeting fellow food lovers, and private group sessions for colleagues, friends, and families, perfectly suited to corporate team building, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and special celebrations. Multi-week courses covering the basics of Italian cuisine are also available. All classes are taught in English and Dutch, and every session concludes with a communal meal and matching Italian wines, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. La Cucina del Sole also offers Italian catering and private dining services from its premises in Amsterdam.
